Voice actress Rachel Schumacher met with Jared to discuss how voice actors play a role in the tabletop roleplaying content community!
Jared: First off tell us a little about yourself.
Rachel: Hello! My name’s Rachel and I am a voice actor, content creator, and your local punk! 🖤
I have been voice acting for over 4 years now and I love getting to personify so many different characters. I specialize in the horror genre; I like to say that I am good at ‘screaming, crying, and dying’. I have a couple of voice acting series, coaching endeavors, and also run voice acting workshops at anime conventions around the country.
As for content creation, I love chatting up my community on my livestream and creating amazing TTRPG actual play and improv based shows with them!
J: When and how did you get started in tabletop games?

R: I fell into tabletop games after watching Critical Role’s Candela Obscura series. I hadn’t watched their content before, but when I heard that this new show was based in a darker and more horror/thriller centric genre, I gave it a watch, and fell in love! I purchased the Limited Edition Rulebook when it came out and auditioned for my first actual play (a Candela one, of course!) shortly after. From there, I have been GM’ing and playing in the TTRPG scene since: not quite a year yet, but getting close!
J: What made you want to make content specifically for tabletop games?
R: I have always wanted to create, but I never knew how to do so without thousands of dollars and an entire crew. Once I started learning about the TTRPG space, I saw that people were encouraged to run games using whatever they had access to; it was about imagination and passion, not your technical capabilities. I knew I would be able to and welcomed to create and perform in this space in the way that made me happy. And that, is exactly what I do!
Plus, the TTRPG space is filled with collaborative individuals who also want to create cool things! It has been a blast to be able to have an entire community that provides the details of the world we play in and an incredible experience to bring their ideas to life in a show!
J: Next tell us about the beginning. Did Voice acting or Content Creation come first?
R: Voice acting came first for me! I graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Acting, as it’s always been my passion ever since I was little. While in college, I had the chance to voice act and the wonderful feeling of portraying a character in that way stuck with me. I continue to follow that passion wherever it may take me! I started creating content based around voice acting and acting next, as I want to share the feeling with as many people as I can!
J: What can people expect coming into your website and social medias?
R: Folks can expect an inclusive and inviting adult community that loves to laugh, chat, and create together! You’ll find us on my livestreams on Twitch and YouTube throughout the week or our Discord server.
I also have two voice acting series available on YouTube and two Community-built TTRPG Actual Play series as well. If you ever want to see your ideas in our show, come join us when we create the story live!
On my website you can find all the projects that I have voice acted in and other work I’ve been a part of as well. You can also learn a little more about my Voice Acting Workshop that I take to anime conventions, where people get the chance to step inside a recording booth and voice original dialogue and characters!
J: What do you see as the future? Goals?
R: Future goals are very simple: never stop performing! I am an entertainer at my core and I want that to be all I do forever and ever! Whether it’s voice acting, playing or GM’ing TTRPGS, livestreaming, or something completely new- it doesn’t matter, as long as I get to keep being creative!
As for current perspectives, I plan to continue making horror and dramatic shows with input from my community. The voice acting workshop should continue to visit new conventions and I’d love to run a game or panel at a TTRPG con too! And of course, many more fun and exciting events to come on my livestreams!
J: What projects do you have coming up?
R: There’s a hope to perform a one-shot on a theatrical stage in 2025! It will be community-built just like the others before it, so don’t forget to join us live sometime if you want to see your ideas performed in the show!
J: Anything else you would like to add?
R: Don’t wait for something to come to you; make it yourself!
